Leningrad Hero City Bronze Table Medal
Beautifully designed and cast bronze table medal commemorating the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution and Leningrad's participation in that event.
The back reads "Leningrad Hero City" and shows the special honors of the city as Hero City, two Orders of Lenin, Order of October Revolution and Order of the Red Banner.
Also on the back, the Neva River is in the foreground with the naval cruiser, Aurora depicted on it. The Aurora was a veteran of the Russo-Japanese War, participating in the Battle of Tsushima. In World War I, the Aurora served in the Baltic. The Aurora was badly damaged in defense of Leningrad during World War II.
The Aurora is most known for being the ship that in 1917 fired the shot signaling the start of the Russian Revolution.
