Description

An absolutely breathtaking example of Victorian craftsmanship, this spectacular openwork brooch is a true showstopper. Crafted in tested 14K yellow gold, the piece features an exuberant swirling foliate design, cascading scrolls and acanthus leaves radiating outward in a fluid, organic composition that is the hallmark of Victorian jewelry at its finest.

Set throughout the design are 43 old mine cut diamonds totaling a calculated 1.409 carats, ranging from a commanding 4mm center stone down to a constellation of graduated accents nestled within the curling leaves and scrolls. The larger diamonds are estimated by a GIA Graduate Gemologist as predominantly near colorless (G-H) and VVS2 clarity or better, while the smaller accent stones vary in clarity down to approximately I (typical and expected for Victorian pieces of this nature, where the overall sparkle and design impact far outweigh any individual stone variation). In person, the diamonds are extraordinarily brilliant and scintillating, as old mine cuts are celebrated for their unique warmth and depth of sparkle that modern cuts simply cannot replicate.

Adding to its versatility, this piece functions as both a brooch and a pendant, featuring a pin back alongside a foldable bail, making it as effortlessly wearable today as it was a century ago.
