Antique silver spoon made by American silversmith John Vernon. An inhabitant of Flatbush, Brooklyn, John Vernon worked on Water Street in downtown New York from about 1786 to 1817. Well-regarded silversmith, he has work included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The spoon features John Vernon's maker mark on the back, as well as two other unidentified marks. The spoon is monogrammed on the front of its handle "H S". On the back of the spoon's handle is engraved a monogram (PUS) added at a later date (1908) probably as a wedding gift.
Pretty good condition for its age. Condition is consistent with age and use. Has some dents in bowl of spoon
