Description

This specimen is a horn coral fossil (rugose coral), preserved as a solitary, horn-shaped skeletal structure from the Paleozoic Era, approximately 250–450 million years old. Rugose corals were marine organisms that lived in warm, shallow seas and are commonly found in Paleozoic limestone deposits.

The fossil retains its natural exterior growth features, including longitudinal ridges and tapering form. One end has been polished, exposing the internal skeletal architecture of the coral. The polished face reveals the radiating septa and concentric growth patterns characteristic of rugose corals, offering a clear cross-sectional view useful for educational and reference purposes.

The contrast between the natural outer surface and the polished termination highlights both the original biological structure and the fossilization process.
