This specimen is a horn coral fossil (rugose coral), preserved as a solitary, horn-shaped skeletal structure from the Paleozoic Era, approximately 250–450 million years old. Rugose corals were marine organisms that lived in warm, shallow seas and are commonly found in Paleozoic limestone deposits.

The fossil retains its natural exterior growth features, including longitudinal ridges and tapering form. One end has been polished, exposing the internal skeletal architecture of the coral.
