Description

This is a striking handmade sterling silver ring, likely from Denmark and dating to the mid-20th century. The design centers on an oval domed silver cabochon with a warm bronze-to-rose-gold patina, framed by delicate curling silver scrollwork that fans out on all four sides — a hallmark of the Scandinavian modernist jewelry style that flourished in Denmark from the 1940s through the 1960s.

The ring is stamped 925 inside the band, confirming sterling silver, along with additional maker's marks that are unfortunately too worn with age to read clearly. While it is not a Georg Jensen piece, the craftsmanship and design language are very much in that same tradition, the whimsical, hand-formed curls and organic symmetry are characteristic of Danish silversmiths working in that mid-century style, and this piece is attributed to an unidentified Danish maker of the period.

The silver shows a lovely aged patina throughout, adding to its character and confirming its age and authenticity. This is a wonderful piece for anyone who loves Scandinavian design, mid-century jewelry, or one-of-a-kind handmade silver work
