In 1943, Abbott Laboratories (a manufacturer of medical supplies) hired various artists to spend time among United States military medical staff to record their efforts in World War II. Through these artists' works we get an authentic look into the heroic deeds of multitudes of those who served in the armed forces. Afterward, the artwork was toured across the nation, featured in museums and various publications. Here is a chance for you to own one of these authentic works.

"Mind Reader" is a lithograph based on a painting by Francis Criss depicting a doctor administering an EEG on a soldier patient. Born in London, and having moved to the USA at an early age, Francis Criss (1901-1973) was best known for his depictions of urban life, particularly New York and is most associated with the Precisionist movement. Finding his talent at an early age, he received a fellowship to study art in Europe. He would exhibit at the Whitney Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art before going on to work under the Works Progress Administration. Today, his works can be found at the Brooklyn Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Whitney Museum, to name a few.
