Description

This specimen features pale brown fluorite occurring as well-formed cubic crystals, along with slender celestite blades on a matrix from Ohio. The fluorite exhibits the characteristic isometric habit of the species, with lightly iron-stained coloration that produces a subdued “root beer” hue rather than the darker tones sometimes associated with this variety. Crystal faces show good luster and clarity, with minimal internal zoning.

The celestite appears as elongated, orthorhombic blades that radiate across portions of the matrix, providing a contrasting morphology and crystallographic orientation relative to the fluorite cubes. Only minor druzy development is present, limited to small sparkling patches on the matrix surface.

This combination of fluorite and celestite is characteristic of certain evaporite-influenced deposits in the region, and the specimen serves as a representative example of mixed mineralization from Ohio’s well-known fluorite-bearing localities.
