Antique Meerschaum Estate Pipe - Horse & Wolf Motif with Fitted Case and Amber Stem

A remarkably detailed hand-carved antiquek meerschaum smoking pipe features a dramatic, high-relief scene of a horse being attacked by a wolf. The bowl showcases exceptional three-dimensional artistry, capturing the intenseity of the horse and the fierce texture of the pursuing wolf with sharp detail. This masterpiece is an incredible find for serious collectors, especially as it is being offered as part of a large, single-owner estate pipe collection that we are currently liquidating.

Crafted from meerschaum, it remains in excellent cosmetic condition with no missing chunks, major chips, or cracks to the intricate artwork. There seems to be some damage, however, to the exterior bottom of the bowl, where a design can be seen. Possibly, also remnants of a repair in that same location. It is paired with a beautiful, genuine amber mouthpiece that offers a striking color contrast to the cream-colored meerschaum. The amber stem itself is currently detached. Over time, the internal threading has worn down, causing the stem to fit loosely. This can easily be displayed as-is or re-threaded by a pipe repair specialist.

Completing this rare set is the original, custom-molded hard shell leather case, designed perfectly to fit the unique, complex contours of the horse-and-wolf carving. While there are no manufacturer marks or stamps on the piece, the case opens to reveal a green satin interior lining. The exterior leather shows vintage wear consistent with its age, but the hinge and clasp remain structurally sound and functional. Whether you are looking for a spectacular display piece or a rewarding restoration project, this dynamic estate pipe is a standout addition to any collection.

Pipe has not been cleaned. There is still tobacco/ash residue in the bowl. The mouthpiece appears to be near original as well.
